Ken Morse, managing director MIT Entrepreneurship Center, will come to the Delft University of Technology and learn you the basic steps in entrepreneurship.

This event is meant for everybody, who wants to be inspired by experts on entrepreneurship. Students, post-graduates, teachers and friends are all welcome to this co-production of Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship and YES!Delft.

On the 5th of November the Delft University of Technology and YES!Delft organize the Delft Design & Engineering Day. Your chance to immerse yourself in the latest inventions and to discuss your own design or engineering idea with the potential business partners. The keynote speakers Julian Vincent and Theo Jansen will share their daring ideas on nature based design and engineering.

During the networking lunch the twenty best designs of the Delft Design & Engineering Award will be displayed. At the same time, Professor Julian Vincent will give three short lectures on bio-inspired design. After the exhibition the eight chosen finalists get to present their design one last time, followed by the story of Theo Jansen on creating new forms of life.

Workshop 'Orientation on entrepreneurship'

The workshop will give you a brief introduction on all the relevant issues concerning technical entrepreneurship.

Program

Day 1 (2 September): On the first day different lecturers - all experienced in a specific field - will tell you all about:

business models & the business plan
patent strategy
marketing & sales
finance.

Day 2 (3 September): The day after you will put the theory into practice. How are these subjects related to your own business idea? Every team will work out its own business idea and is coached by someone from its own university and an external expert. These coaches will give you advice and support whenever needed. At the end of the day each team presents its own business idea to an independent jury. The jury members evaluate all the different ideas and presentations. The most promissing business idea will be rewarded with a prize!

Technology foundation STW organizes a workshop about entrepreneurship in cooperation with the Wageningen Business School (WBS). With this workshop STW desires to stimulate a growing number of high-tech startups in the Netherlands.

This 2-day workshop is given on 2 and 3 September. The exact location will be announced soon, but is somewhere in Enschede. Participation is free of charge and YES!Delft will pay the expenses for your overnight stay in Enschede.

Award ceremony Ufd-Leermeesterprijs

The 2009 ‘UfD Leermeesterprijs’ is awarded to Prof. Adriaan Beukers, professor Composite Materials and Structures at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering.

Prof. Beukers was nominated for this prize by teachers, direct colleagues and students. Each year this prize is awarded to those who have exceeded in terms of the quality of their research, teaching skills and valorisation, as well the projection of this success onto their surrounding students and PhD students. He supported many students and PhD's to start their own company, several of those companies are situated at YES!Delft.

Prof. Beukers conducts research into the use of sustainable composite materials, light-weight structures and production methods. His challenge is to use minimal resources of material and energy to achieve maximum results. Adriaan Beukers is a teacher who inspires and motivates. In addition, he is a mentor for entrepreneurs starting out in the aerospace industry.

Beukers' strong ties within the business community, enable him to increase the exchange of knowledge between the business community, the government and universities on many different levels.

The award ceremony will take place in the Aula, Mekelweg 5, Delft.

Summerschool 'sustainable city area in The Hague'

In collaboration with the city The Hague, Enviu offers ten students the possibility to develop ideas for the most sustainable city area in The Netherlands. During this professional summerschool the participants get the opportunity to be directly involved with this ambitious project that will actually be realized in the next couple of years.

Next to challenging assignments the students will get inspiring excursions, workshops and presentations for free and Enviu will bring you in contact with experts in sustainability, building and architecture, innovation and creativity. All students receive a certificate when they successfully completed the summer school.

Speaker
Jeroen Verbrugge, TU Delft alumnus, is the Co founder of the company FLEX/the INNOVATIONLAB. FLEX is one of the leading design studios in the Netherlands and supports companies in the development of new products or product solutions.

The design studio in Delft was founded in 1989. FLEX stands for a flexible way of working, which is necessary to successfully develop products for a wide variety of clients and to introduce a broad range of products. It is Jeroen Verbrugge's opinion that innovation is the key ingredient for preparing for future challenges, "we have the skills, the creativity and knowledge to support innovation processes in every phase".

Summerschool Entrepreneurship

The summerschool on entrepreneurship is organized by the ABN Amro bank in cooperation with 13 educational institutes. Due to this broad cooperation of parties and the intens course, the summerschool is a valuable step for any aspiring entrepreneur.
