When your organization is successfully growing, there comes a moment when it is necessary to hire personnel. A good organization and administration structure is required to be prepared for this occasion and the commitments that follow.

If you are ready to hire personnel, consider the following: 
- Register at the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration (Belastingdienst)
   via the form ‘Aanmelding werkgever.’ You will then be confronted with income
   tax/national insurance contribution; the national health insurance premium;
   the income-dependent contribution concerning the health insurance law; and
   employment insurance premiums;
- The Belastingdienst informs the Uitvoeringsinstituut Werknemers
   Verzekeringen (UWV) that you have become an employer. UWV will
   subsequently register you as such in its administration system. UWV is a
   subsidiary of the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and is responsible for the
   disbursement of employment insurances.  After you are registered, you
   will obtain a personal account number called  ‘aansluit nummer or aansluit
   identificatie’. In your correspondence with the (local) UWV, 
   always mention this number;
- Operate a salary administration system.

Besides hiring personnel, you can also funnel knowledge into your business by establishing an advisory board. The profiles of the people you illicit to become members of such a board must be in line with the ambitions you want to achieve with your company. Moreover, it’s appropriate to consider a balance in the advisory board. For instance, consider people with different backgrounds:
legal, financial, or marketing. Often a simple bottle of wine is enough to keep these people interested in remaining advisory board members!
