Targets and Deliverables

After defining a solid product-market combination, and being confident you can earn money with it, you must enter the market. To do this, you need to take different and unique steps. The motto in this phase is: 'not to do things right, but to do the right things'.
The ability to make a distinction between core issues and issues that can wait for later, is fundamental in this phase.

What is really important, and what is not important, depends on the specific character of the company and product-market combination. Often you must resolve these core issues first, before you enter the
next developmental phase of your company. As a rule, the most important issues that need to be resolved in the start-up phase of your company are:
- Obtaining client/launching customer(s)
- Obtaining capital (risk investment/subsidy/bank loans)

To reach these targets, you must meet some obligations. Doing good business means that you have to, as effectively and fficiently as possible, reach your core targets. To be able to reach these targets, you need to produce certain deliverables.

These deliverables are, again, not an accounting system, logo or business cards. Each target is associated with certain deliverables. For instance, for a launching customer it is not important for your product to be patented.

This entails first and foremost: the establishment of targets and deliverables; the supply of information and knowledge and know-how; and a network of valuable contacts.
