In order to be accepted to the Incubation Centre, you should be a ‘technostarter’. As a technostarter, you anage a company or are preparing the start of a company on the basis of a new technological invention or a new application of existing technology. In order to be accepted to the Formula, you must present a business plan that demonstrates that your business idea is feasible and expandable. Whether this is indeed the case is determined by a selection committee that meets on a monthly basis.

Selection Process

1. Business plan

The selection process starts with you delivering a business plan to the Formula Manager of YES!Delft. The business plan should be accompanied by a recommendation letter from a specialist in the technological field in which you are going to be active as an entrepreneur. The specialist is preferably from TU Delft. In this phase, you should also indicate whether you would like to rent an office in the incubator and whether you would like to apply for the personal pre-seed loan. We advise you to take a look at the selectioncriteria. In case you do not yet have a businessplan, or you feel you still need to rewrite this to fit the criteria, we also offer you some assitence in this area. You can find more about the TU Delft course "Writing A Businessplan" in the Education Centre (only open for students) or read more about the YES!Delft Pre-Incubatie Programma.

2. Initial screening Manager Incubation Centre

The initial screening of applications is carried out by the Formula Manager. This is done on the basis of predefined and officially endorsed criteria.

3. Selection committee

If you pass this phase, the Formula Manager will present you to the selection committee. You need to hand in your final business plan and the recommendation lettre before the deadline for that month. During the meeting with the selection committee, you will be asked to verbally explain the merits of your business proposal. They will evaluate your businessplan based on our admision criteria. Check the selection agenda for the dates on which the committee meets and what deadline you need to meet for the businessplan and the proposal.

4. Admission

The secretary of the selection committee will inform you about the outcome of this meeting. A positive outcome ofthis meeting results in your start-up being admitted to the program, for the first year. The decision to extend this period to a maximum of three years is made on an annual basis and isbased on the progress you make in achieving your business objectives. Only in rare cases is the three-year period extended to a maximum of four years.

Obviously, all the business plans presented to YES!Delft and the selection committee are handled with confidentiality.
