YES!Delft is an initiative of Delft Municipality and TU Delft. YES!Delft is founded to improve and promote technologically innovative entrepreneurship within and outside of TU Delft.

The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and the provincial government of the Province Zuid-Holland also support YES!Delft.

Why does TU Delft support YES!Delft?

TU Delft wants to actively promote business start-ups and foster successful technostarters. These are inovative enterprises that contribute to the knowledge economy of the Netherlands. The active support of technostarters is one of the most important pillars of the knowledge valorisation policy of the TU Delft. The TU Delft wants to communicate and market inspiringly the technostarter policy to a range of target groups. The technostarter policy is a component of TU Delft's knowledge valorization policy.

Why does Delft Municipality support YES!Delft?
For Delft ‘Knowledge City’ technostarters are the future pillars of the local economy. Many years ago, five TU Delft students started to develop software in two garage boxes: the result is Exact Software, one of the top-ten providers of business software solutions in the world. Not all technostarters will become stock market listed companies; however, some will become medium sized companies, while others will choose to remain small. Due to their specific knowledge, these small companies will however be global players. It is this ambitious spirit that YES!Delft conveys and spreads with its slogan: ‘Building Tomorrow's Leading Firms!’ The fact that YES!Delft very pragmatically stimulates and enables entrepreneurship by TU Delft students has been the main reason to find YES!Delft. YES!Delft zealously raises awareness of the fun of entrepreneurship. It furthermore integrates study programs with entrepreneurship and offers technostarters the facilities for a successful start-up, such as an office. In doing so, YES!Delft offers ambitious technostarters the right nurturing environment. At YES!Delft the threshold is low, but the ambitions are high. Just shortly after its foundation in 2005 YES!Delft
welcomed approximately 25 companies into its program. For Delft Municipality, supporting entrepreneurs does not stop when they have passed the start-up phase. Companies that have been established with the support of YES!Delft can count on a lasting relationship with Delft Municipality. Whenever possible, the municipality supports the further development and growth of such
companies, so that they can become the pioneers of the Delft knowledge economy. As a member of the board of YES!Delft, my contribution will be to provide YES!Delft with the necessary tools for the successful support of technostarters in the pre-start and start-up period of their companies. Moreover, I will demonstrate that good cooperation between TU Delft and Delft Municipality will deliver a win-win situation for both parties.
