YES!Delft The Hague moves to The Hague Tech

Tech incubator YES!Delft The Hague joins forces with innovation hub The Hague Tech. As one ecosystem the companies will collaborate on their combined mission: facilitate entrepreneurs in their growth and stimulate digital innovation.

For YES!Delft the move is an important step: “At YES!Delft The Hague we have three main activities. Obviously, we guide and support ambitious and promising tech startups in bringing their digital innovations to the market. Next to this we also support corporates in their innovation journey. And for the Public sector, we are rolling out an ambitious GovTech program to accelerate digital innovations in this domain. This resonates highly with The Hague Tech’s ambition and community. This is the reason why we moved to their location. Together with our joining startups and the local ecosystem we are confident to boost the broader adoption of innovative solutions”, Ras Lalmy, MD YES!Delft The Hague comments.

Olga Wielders, Co-founder of The Hague Tech is pleased with the move: “Together we can generate higher value and innovate faster. YES!Delft among the top 5 business incubators in the world

Tech incubator YES!Delft has, again, secured a spot in the top 5 of the UBI Global ranking of the world’s best university incubators. YES!Delft sees this as recognition for the excellent work it does for startups and scaleups. Earlier this year, YES!Delft introduced the incubator 4.0: a new concept to provide startups with everything they need in their lifecycle.

The new YES!Delft incubator 4.0 supports tech startups in all phases of their business and consists of four parts. Through YES!Talents entrepreneurs find a co-founder or talented team members. For suitable financing and advice to keep their startup financially healthy, they can use the YES!Funded service. WithYES!Programs YES!Delft also offers customised expertise and knowledge from experts and practitioners in areas such as market validation, sales, corporate finance, marketing, intellectual property and personal and professional development. Finally, the incubator 4.0 programme offers access to the YES!Delft ecosystem consisting of corporate partners, fieldlabs, investors and launching customers.

Evert Jaap Lugt, Managing Director at YES!Delft is excited about the incubator 4.0 concept: “This new development is in line with our mission to build an ecosystem that allows tech startups to become the leading companies of the future. Our growing network of companies that are joining that ecosystem is an important part of the development.”

In addition to the incubator 4.0, YES!Delft started a new initiative this year to solve problems of corporates by using startup and validation methodologies: Innocubes. Innocubes has everything it takes to enable companies to rapidly find innovative solutions to their challenges: from formulating an innovation strategy to developing and implementing customised technologies. The first collaborations between corporates and startups have been established. For example, Tata Steel has started a pilot with YES!Delft startup WarpVR. Together they develop virtual reality training courses that are able to train groups of up to 2000 employees.

Lugt: “Innocubes offers tech startups a unique way to test their technology on a large scale in real life. By continuing our development, we keep our quality high. This spot in the top 5 of the UBI Global ranking is a clear international recognition of that quality.”

UBI Global is a Swedish-based intelligence company and community, known for high-quality intelligence, assessment and mapping of business incubation. The top lists of business incubators as assessed in their World Benchmark Study 2019-2020 were released at the World Incubation Summit in Qatar.

Starting a business in the Netherlands

Top 10 Tech Startup Success Stories: September

Starting a new business in the Netherlands can be challenging. Nevertheless, in Delft and The Hague, our startups are fielding successes. For example, we are welcoming a new startup at our Digital Hub, while others are expanding abroad. Furthermore, there are startup successes for female entrepreneurs and many awards won.  Curious to see which startups were successful in September? Read on!

1. Vibes.technology

The ComplexTech startup is expanding abroad! To better serve their customers and be present in the heart of the German automotive industry, they are taking their first step towards internationalization by opening a new office in Munich. From there, they will service and expand its customer base in Germany and Austria.

2. Nowi

What is the impact of the Internet of Things on the environment? And will 5G help or hinder Britain’s target of net-zero emissions by 2050? As the implementation of 5G is projected to consume nine times more power than 4G the Accelerator alumnus’ power harvesting solution might be the way forward.

3. Somnox

The Robotics startup is continuing their upward trajectory: the Somnox sleep robot is now available in the world-famous Harrods flagship store in London. Moreover, the UK national newspaper The Telegraph put the robot to the test to cure insomnia. Curious to see how Somnox fared?

4. STIL

IJsbrand de Lange, the founder of the MedTech startup, received the Inspirational Award 2019. The EIT Health Validation Lab and Accelerator alumnus is developing a brace that tackles tremors or uncontrollable rhythmic movements, common in Parkinsons patients. IJsbrand received the award at the opening ceremony of the TU Delft academic year.

5. Feedback Fruits and Solar Monkey

The AI and EdTech startup Feedback Fruits and the CleanTech startup Solar Monkey are nominated by Deloitte in the category Technology Fast 50. The nomination recognizes the fastest growing technology companies which were founded no more than four years ago. Moreover, the nominees will compete in Amsterdam in October for the Rising Star 2019 award.

6. FWDpay

Starting a new business in the Netherlands might be a challenge, but the FWDpay team is taking on two challenges. They have joined the ranks of our Digital Hub YES!Delft The Hague. This startup is grasping the opportunity that Open Banking offers: by enabling customers to simply create SMART contracts and thus control money flow. Moreover, the founders have also kicked off Project.BB. Together with students from TU Delft Robotics Minor and Haagse Hogeschool Blockchain Minor, they are developing a beach cleaning robot!

7. Meds2Go

The Validation Lab alumnus has been selected as a finalist for this year’s HealthTech Challenge. This is the European leg of the worldwide Women Startup Challenge, organized by Women Who Tech.
