About the challenge

Equans, the international market leader in technical services, and YES!Delft are hosting a Hackathon to discover innovative ideas for the sustainable growth of the e-mobility field. The focus is on reducing cities’ emissions and preparing for the increased use of electric vehicles (EVs).

Municipalities see the number of electric vehicles (EVs) increasing yearly. A good thing, right? It will help reduce city emissions. However, it also poses challenges concerning the charging infrastructure, the grid, and public space design. 

The growing number of people driving electric cars is exceeding expectations. Experts believe that by 2025, there will be a big switch from fossil-fueled vehicles to electric cars. It means that we have to start now by thinking about the challenges. How do we provide enough charging stations? And how do we ensure availability for every user? The Netherlands needs to prepare for these significant and upcoming changes in the e-mobility field now to prevent running into shortages.

​​INCREASING THE AVAILABILITY OF THE CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES

This Hackathon takes place on March 23rd. Equans and YES!Delft are looking for innovative solutions to these two challenges:

1. How can the municipality increase the available charging infrastructure?

2. How can there be an increase in the charging infrastructure utilization while still keeping a high availability for the end user?

Who is this challenge for?

This Hackathon is open to students and other bright minds eager to demonstrate their ideas in e-mobility. A maximum of 30 participants will be selected and placed in small teams to work on one of the assignments. You can register as an individual or as a group.

The challenge is an excellent opportunity for you to work on solutions in a knowledgeable team with like-minded people. It is a 1-day event in which you will work on the assignment and present your ideas to experts in the field.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

The winning team gets €2,000.- followed by a runner-up price of €500-.
