BENNO GROOSMAN

Benno Groosman (1984) is a Dutch serial medtech entrepreneur with 11 years experience in the field. His current positions are CEO of Surge-on Medical, CFO of VirtualMedSchool, and founding director of Groosman.co Startups. His previous positions include CEO of Salusion, pre-incubation manager at Maastricht University, and Entrepreneur in Residence at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Greece and the SEED Accelerator in Brazil. After a year at Delft University of Technology and University of Leiden, he made the switch to business education at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. Here he completed the Master Entrepreneurship & New Business Venturing. During his studies, he founded his first medtech startup in YES!Delft and sold the company’s patents – after a sudden bankruptcy – to an Australian company. Benno has a track record in funding. He raised millions of euros (grants, investors, bank loans) for his own startups. As the Entrepreneur in Residence at the Embassy of the Netherlands, he developed a funding masterclass to get innovative startups investment-ready. Through Groosman.co Startups he has supported startup incubators and business universities in the Netherlands, Greece, Brazil, Hungary, Colombia, UK, and other countries. As Surge-on Medical’s CEO, Benno Groosman is focused on investor relations, international business development and research & development funding and planning. Surge-on Medical fits with Benno’s professional vision that medtech companies should provide solutions that are beneficial for all three main stakeholders: helping the healthcare professional to provide better care, improving quality of life for the patient, and reducing overall healthcare costs for society. In VirtualMedSchool (where Benno is CFO) the same vision is followed by providing online simulated training for nurses and doctors in first aid care and diagnosis.
