TOP 10 Startup Success Stories: October

There are only 2 months left until we round up this year, and what a year was 2020 so far! One could think there would be fewer nominations, collaborations, and grants secured, but check out all the achievements from our startups in this month’s success stories!
1. Bi/ond

With the help of YES!Funded, Bi/ond secured a € 1.4 million Eurostars project to deliver a first-of-a-kind Organ-on-Chip system.

In addition, the startup also received an investment by UNIIQ – Finance for the Future. This investment will allow the startup to expand its team and scale up the product, thus keep bridging the gap between biology and engineering.

2. UbiOps

The YES!Delft The Hague based startup, Dutch Analytics, introduces UbiOps as the new name of its platform. UbiOps helps data scientists and engineers to bring their data science code and algorithms live without needing extensive knowledge of IT and cloud infrastructure.

3. SenseGlove

Trying something out is the best way of exploring it! That’s exactly why SenseGlove made a trial available for professionals interested in VR haptic technologies. 4. VIBES.technology

New partnership for this DeepTech automotive startup! Vibes will work with BMW Group and Technical University of Munich to develop next gen NVH products over the next 2 years. This software will accurately predict the sound & vibration behavior of new (electric) vehicles. Who knows, maybe the next BMW electrical car will have a Dutch technology!

5. Unpluq

Jorn and Tim – the cofounders of Unpluq – are currently enrolled in our AI/Blockchain Validation Lab, and they are also officially launching their Unpluq product this month! By plugging in the Unpluq Key your phone will transform into a distraction-free device. You can also get your key already!

6. SD-Insights

NEXTdriver, SD-Insights’ professional driving behavior coach for transport companies and their haulers, started a collaboration with Evofenedex on the 1st of October. Evofenedex is the network of Dutch trading and production companies with logistics or international operations. Together with the recent cooperation with THAR, SD-Insight will realize a considerable upscaling with their NEXTdriver service for coaching drivers.

7. Academic Startup Competition

Three YES!Delft startups got nominated for the Academic Startup Competition, initiated by the VSNU, AcTI, and Techleap. Among the 20 finalists are PATS indoor drone solutions, DeNoize, and SOLHO. The 10 winners will be announced in January, during the VSNU Impact Festival.

8. Loop

Last month we included one of the latest additions to our ecosystem to this article as well, since they presented the world’s first living coffin made from mycelium. Within one month they already had their first international shipping!

9. Supersola

The CleanTech startup Supersola will install four ready-made solar panels on the roof of the DreamHûs. This is a test house in The Green Village on the TU Delft campus where innovations are introduced first hand! The test results from this realistic usage situation will be used in a discussion to eliminate ambiguities in the legislation and regulations of solar panels.

10. Get in the Ring – Impact Competition

Get in the Ring invited 28 Dutch impact startups, in the domains of food, water, and energy, to kick-off the Get in the Ring Impact Competition. Among these startups are Circularise, Kitepower, Odd.Bot, PATS Indoor Drone Solutions, SOLHO, and The Helia.
