Government organizations face a large number of challenges where technology has an increasing impact. Whether it concerns being able to respond quickly to the needs of society, increasing the control of citizens or improving decision-making by applying smart algorithms based on large amounts of reliable and secure data.

Innovative technologies provide an essential contribution to solutions for these types of issues. Startups and scaleups play an important role in this. We call this GovTech: the application of new technologies, primarily driven by collaboration with startups and scaleups, to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of government organizations and to improve public services. YES!Delft The Hague has established a new GovTech focus area, translated its years of experience in working with startups, corporates and governments into a range of programs for innovation in the public sector. 

 

The GovTech Validation Lab focuses on validating and scaling solutions for multi-stakeholder challenges. It recognises that many of the challenges are complex and require navigating an ecosystem of stakeholders with different needs and interests. Focusing on the problem-solution fit with support from wide expertise is crucial in ensuring realised long-term value. Validating early is a lesson many startups have learned and is even more applicable given the complex nature of public sector innovation.
